Reconcile comes from the Greek word “katalisasso” which means, “to bring together again.” Reconciled Outdoors is a ministry of Harrisburg Baptist Church of Tupelo MS for the area hunters. It is our goal and challenge to help individuals understand that it is Christ who brings mankind back to the purpose and design of our Creator. We are ambassadors for Christ and it is our privilege to help individuals understand that the gospel is the only remedy for this broken system and it’s the only way we can pursue God’s perfect design in all areas of our lives.
What's our goal?
It's our goal with Reconciled Outdoors to help individuals to come to understand their true purpose and design in life -- to walk with God and worship Him. This is what brings Him glory! It's our hope that an individual will see the need for salvation, spiritual growth and discipleship.
How we meet our Goals?
So, through gospel conversations and by the way of gospel driven outdoor fellowships, it's our hope someone is drawn to a growing relationship with Christ. With Colossians 2:6-7 in mind, We will use outdoor experiences (hunting trips, fishing outings, camping trips, etc) to be able to share the importance of:
- Knowing you're IN HIM and sure you've received Christ
- The importance of walking IN HIM
- How to grow IN HIM
- How to be obedient TO HIM
- How to live a life FOR HIM with gratitude
FOUNDER: Steve "Opie" Thomas
Opie has been in ministry for over 30 years and been involved with outdoor ministry for almost 20 years. He is the National Director of Hope Outdoors which is a 501c3 that uses avenue of hunting and fishing to share the gospel of Jesus Christ (https//www.hopeoutdoors.org). He's an ordained minister, former worship leader, and is currently serving as Recreation Director at his home church of Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo, MS where he and his wife Stephanie and twin daughters, Ana Davis and Emilee attend.
Opie is a devoted husband and father, avid turkey and deer hunter, loves to film and edit, and even loves to wet a hook sometimes. And like the apostle Paul, Opie has a heart for sharing the gospel, but most of all, he sees the need of individuals maturing their lives in the gospel. It's his vision with Reconciled Outdoors to see others to understand their purpose and design of being created -- to walk with Christ and worship Him alone!
